MICHELLE'S BACKGROUND:
Michelle has been a Registered Nurse for 23 years, offering an extensive experience in a variety of settings.
She graduated from Montana State University with a BSN in 1986. She them moved to Portland, Oregon, and started her career at Oregon Health Sciences University, working as an acute care nurse in a variety of settings.
In 1987, she then found her niche in Nursing: Home Care and Hospice.
HOME HEALTH:
Michelle has 17 years experience as a Home Health Nurse. She has provided Skilled Nursing Services to patient's from a variety of cultures, backgrounds and communities, including rural and metropolitan. The goal is to teach the patient, family and caregivers, the necessary components of the disease process involved and how to manage their disease process and care in the home setting to assist the patient to remain as safe and independent as possible. This includes informing the patient and family members regarding the community resources that are available to assist in the home environment.
HOSPICE:
Michelle has had 8 years experience as a Hospice Nurse. She has provided Skilled Nursing Services to terminally ill patients, with a holistic approach, including giving spiritual, mental, emotional and physical comfort to patients, family members, caregivers and friends. As an RN, I collaborate with the MD to provide optimal symptom control so a patient can live their final days with dignity and comfort.
PRIVATE CARE NURSING:
Michelle spent 2 years as a Private Care Nursing Coordinator and 3 years in a Supervisory role. Private Care is a non skilled program, providing homemaking and Nurse Aide services to clients'. She coordinated the care with the client, family, caregiver to ensure that the quality of care that was expected by her client's and herself was being provided.
ASSISTED LIVING RESIDENT CARE COORDINATOR:
Michelle spent 1 year coordinating the care of the residents of an Assisted Living Facility. She coordinated the care of the resident's by being the facilitator between the resident, the family, the staff, and the physician to ensure that the totality of the resident's needs were being met.

Options for Health Care can be overwhelming and complex when one attempts to navigate the Health Care Map. It can not just be overwhelming for the patient, but for the family, friends, and caregivers that are involved. Michelle Alexander is an experienced Registered Nurse, as well as a Certified Life Coach. She can be your personal guide to assist the patient, family and loved one's in options for Health Care, as well as coaching all involved to move forward with the transitions that they are faced with.
